Meet Our Care Team

Richard Samuel, MD

Richard Samuel, MD is the medical director and a physician for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care. Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare, he worked at other urgent care centers in Maryland and Virginia. He was recognized as Physician of the Year for INOVA Emergency Care.

Dr. Samuel earned his medical degree and completed his internship at Christian Medical College. He completed his residency at the Medical College of Pennsylvania, Episcopal Hospital, where he specialized in internal medicine and was named chief resident. He is certified by the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Urgent Care Medicine, American College of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Virginia Medical Society and the Maryland State Medical Society. Dr. Samuel is fluent in Hindi and Tamil, and enjoys gardening and traveling in his spare time.

Amra Nasir, MD

Amra Nasir, MD is a physician for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care. Prior to joining Adventist HealthCare, she was the senior medical officer for the Maries Stopes Society, a reproductive health services organization in Pakistan. Dr. Nasir also served as the primary and urgent care physician for Yakima Valley Farm Worker’s Clinic in Washington.

Dr. Nasir earned her medical degree from Sindh Medical College in Pakistan, completed her internship at St. Joseph’s Hospital and her residency at Central Washington Family Medicine. She is certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Physicians.  Dr. Nasir is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi and Urdu.

Norval Rios, MD

Norval Rios, MD is a physician for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care. For nearly 25 years, he practiced in a variety of healthcare environments, taking on medical roles at the Pentagon, military facilities, private practices, hospitals and urgent care clinics. He was also the former medical director at Briggs Chaney Medical Center.

Dr. Rios completed medical school and his residency at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He is certified by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and the American Board of Urgent Care Medicine. He is also a member of the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Physicians. Dr. Rios is fluent in Spanish.

 

Kelly Reed, Pharm D, PA-C

Kelly Reed is a physician assistant for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care.

She has over a decade of pharmacy and physician assistant experience working for major healthcare providers in the United States and Germany. Prior to working for Adventist, Dr. Reed cared for wounded active duty soldiers at a major military hospital in Germany. Afterward, Dr. Reed began practicing emergency medicine in Maryland for urgent care centers. She also has years of experience working as a clinical pharmacist for the U.S. Army Reserve and hospital systems.

Dr. Reed received her Doctor of Pharmacy Degree from The University of New Mexico and completed her Pharmacy Practice Residency at Providence Health System in Portland, Oregon. She also completed her Master of Physician Assistant Degree at the Medical College of Georgia. Dr. Reed is the proud wife of an active duty army officer and mother to four wonderful children. She enjoys experiencing new places, traveling and meeting new people.

Roberta Schneller, PA-C

Roberta Schneller, PA-C is a physician assistant for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care. She has provided quality, compassionate care for almost 20 years. She started her career practicing in Kentucky hospitals and has since held physician assistant positions in rehab centers, occupational health centers and primary care offices.

Roberta earned her Associate of Science degree from the Kettering College of Medical Arts. She is certified through the National Commission of Certification of Physician Assistants.

Janet Austen, CRNP-F

Janet Austen, CRNP- F is a certified nurse practitioner for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care. She has many years of experience working in urgent care and top area hospitals, including George Washington University Hospital and Georgetown University Hospital. Janet was also a nurse for Prince George’s County Schools in Maryland.

Janet earned her Masters of Science from the University of Maryland, Baltimore and her Masters of Business Administration from Southern Illinois University. Janet enjoys walking her dogs and gardening.

Vera Ogembo, CRNP

Vera Ogembo, CRNP is an advanced nurse practitioner for Adventist HealthCare Urgent Care. She is a dedicated nurse practitioner with experience at local area hospitals and urgent care centers in Maryland. Vera earned her Masters of Science from Georgetown University in Family Nurse Practice. She is certified with the American Association of Nurse Practitioners and the Nurse Practitioner Association of Maryland. Vera’s passion is to promote the well-being of her patients and restore health to those who are sick. She enjoys traveling and reading. She is fluent in Swahili and Kisii.
